”Acupuncture has so many benefits. I love seeing people after a session - their ailments are eased, and their spirit is restored. This is a beautiful medicine that helps people feel better from the inside out, from the root cause to the symptoms manifested.

I am inspired by Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in its capacity to work holistically on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It integrates your being and restores wholeness.”

In addition to her medical education, Kara has a background in meditation, energy healing, shamanic healing, somatic therapy, as well as nutrition, and sports-dance-yogay fitness and rehabilitation. Following in the lineage of her great grandfather, a doctor of acupuncture and herbal medicine, she utilizes all her skills in service to others.

How does acupuncture work to relieve pain?

MULTI-FACETED CARE

I will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan to treat the symptom of pain, as well as address the systemic and root causes for long term well-being.

METHODOLOGY

Evidence-based Chinese medicine includes acupuncture, herbal therapy, nutritional guidelines, and integration of the mind-body connection. All your inter-connected systems will be addressed. For example, muscles will hold tension in response to a mind at stress. A person experiencing chronic pain for three months has a nervous system in a heightened state which alters brain chemistry. This is why holistic medicine treats the whole being to restore health.

Scientific research has shown that acupuncture (1) calms the areas of the brain associated with pain, (2) stimulates parts of the nervous system associated with rest and recovery, (3) increases blood flow to the treated area, and reduces inflammation.

Scientific studies prove acupuncture’s effectiveness on various types of pain from low back, knee and neck pain, from migraines to surgical recovery. Acupuncture’s credibility has grown as Western medicine has sought alternatives to pain killers due to our nation’s opioid crisis.  MRI’s and other data prove and illustrate the benefits that acupuncture has on the nervous system, brain, and all systems of the body.
